when i changed from auto to manual, i had to use parts from the old and replacement pedal assemblies. the brake light mounting holes were on the wrong side on the manual pedal assembly that i purchased. i used the housing from the auto pedals and the pedals from the manual assembly.

This drawing is from my 78 Assembly Manual and should be accurate for your 79.

As best I can tell, the upper connection on the Brake Light/Cruise Control Cut-Off switch goes to the cruise control transducer.

How are you going to mount a new cruise control cut-off on the clutch pedal that will disable the cruise control if you depress the clutch pedal before you depress the brake pedal?

I'm going to convert from the automatic to a T5 5 speed manual this spring, and I'm trying to figure out how to disable the cruise control from the clutch pedal. I cannot find an Assembly Manual drawing or anything in the shop manual that shows or tells me how it should be done.

Good luck on your swap!!

I think both of us will, like Jeff (jnb5101) said above, have to use parts from both the old and the replacement assemblies for our conversions. This may require adjustments of switch positions after parts have been swapped. Here are a couple more pages from the 78 Factory Assembly Manual that may help. The notes on each one explain how to set the switches.

These do not help with installing cruise control switches that are actuated by the clutch pedal. I think we will need to fabricate 1 or 2 brackets for that. If you do that, please post pictures or drawings showing how you did it.

Thanks...and good luck!

Do you know what year vette your pedal assembly came out of?

If it was a 68 it isn't set up like the picture above, it will have a completely different brake switch. If needed I can get a picture for you.

This is 68 only and the switches are expensive. $45-$50 compared to roughly $6 for 69 up, if I remember correctly.

Someone on this site did a nice write up awhile back on modifying a 68 pedal assembly to use a 69 up brake switch.

It's not easy but if you've got the 68 setup and want use the 68 switch it can be mounted without removing the pedal assembly. I'd take the seat out, lie down and get comfortable.
