After starting my vette, 78 L-82, I held my hand in front of the exhaust pipes after ca. 20 min. The left pipe was much warmer than the left. Checked the riser, it had opened the valve. Since I still got an Y-pipe I don´t understand this, thought the temp should be the same.
Any ideas??

I´m quoting myself, ment left is warmer than right (too much wine??)

Aint there, dunno, BUT....the heat riser is typically on the pass side of the GM engines, so forces gasses over the top through the intake mani to warm the carb/induction....and so when that pulls off with engine temp, actually a bi metal spring on the pass side flapper...outside where you can see it....it will of course make the pass side run cooler, not to mention even when open the flow is blocked a bit but it more or less equalizes through the up/over passage....
