You should not have to hone the cylinders. Any residues on the cylinders should clean up with low abrasive steel wool.

I referring to basically just wiping them out with some fine steel wool. If you have got a gouge in the sleeve that you can feel with your fingernail, that's another story. If you are attempting to remove something like this, it would depend on how deep the scratch was. You might want to talk to Gary at VBP and get his opinion. There are tolerances as to how much can be removed.
