My 1968 Convt. is equipped with the speed warning option. As I understand it, you were to set the needle on the speedometer to the speed to come on, and when you exceeded that speed a buzzer went off.
However mine is not working. Does anyone know how this option works and what it may entail in getting it back to operation?
Your description how it works is right (buzzer buzzes when the set speed is reached).
The main part of this system is the buzzer located on the left door jamb behind the left dash pad. There is one line from the speedometer to that buzzer and one line from the fuse panel "IGN" connector to the buzzer. I would suggest to check both wires, the connector at the buzzer and the presence of buzzer
This is a photo of the buzzer (69er but to my knowledge 68 and 69 have the same speed warning system).
67 68 69 Speed warning buzzer was the same part 1361529. The harness in the car ran from a stud (button) off the back of the speedometer, to the relay for the ground and from the fuse box to the relay for the power. When the speed reached the limit set, it grounded the relay.
