Default VBP front monospring rate?

I have a VBP front monospring kit I just installed, and I believe that they sent me a spring meant for racing instead of street driving because no matter which adjustment I use, the spring rate seems too high. On one end of the spring, it is written: "TVL-740" which VBP has confirmed is the spring rate. I have their complete "advanced street/slalom" kit on the car which came with 550lb front springs, and with this new monospring installed, it is very obvious that the spring rate is much higher no matter where I adjust it to.

My question is: take a look at your monospring for me and tell me what the spring rate is; I am not getting all the answers to my questions from VBP, so this is why I am asking here.

I can take a look at mine tomorrow but I had just the oppisite on my rear dual mount spring. It was to soft. I had it set on the firmest setting and it would still bottom out. I called and gave them the numbers. They confirmed it was a softer spring and sent me out one the the more firmer springs. It made a huge difference. I run on the 3rd setting and it is firm. If I want a softer ride I just go to the 2nd setting. I have not had it on the 4th setting yet.

I jus tlooked at mine. The best I can see with a mirror and bad lighting is K-643. I assume it is 643 pound spring which would be quite a bit lighter than yours. I run mine at 2nd or 3rd setting and it is plenty firm.

Thanks for taking a look for me and reporting back.

I am going to ask VBP to send me a lighter rate spring to replace it. I don't know why they would send me such a high rate spring in the first place! I just want a spring that closely replicates the 550 lbs coils I had in there when in the middle adjustment position so I can play with the rate both ways. Any problems otherwise with the monospring that I should know about?

None that I have had. It is real nice to be able to adjust the ride height and spring rate in a matter of minutes now. It rides smoother and I really like it. The only issue I have which is not really an issue at all is, when I put it on the lift and the suspension hangs the bolts are loose in the spring. When I go put it on the ground it kind of groans and makes a little noise until the suspension settles. See I told you it was not an issue. The rear does tha talso with the dual rate system back there. VB was real good about exchanging my spring.

One thing I just noticed is that the steering stops on the control arms look much bigger than the stock ones, do they decrease the turning radius? I have my car in the air right now doing other work, so I can't check it out yet.

Ding Ding Ding!
You are exactly right. I did a post on this a week or so ago. Yes it is decreased. Just trim the stops back a little and your turning will go back to normal again.

Here is the post with some pictures.

Great link! I thought those stops looked too big! I think I will start off by cutting 1/4" and go from there.

Out of curiosity I ran the spring bolts all the way down to see how low the front would go, and it went to 26 1/2" ground to fender, but that left almost no travel between the frame and the bump stop.....is it advisable to trim the bump stops to gain back some suspension travel if I want to roll that low? Or is that asking for problems?

If you trim the bump stop you can bottom out the shock.

I didn't trim mine, but I did drill a hole thru it to soften it a bit. Then I lowered the shocks in the a-arms using spacers.

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but while you front monospring guys are here, whats your front fender height at the lowest, and how much adjustability from there?
