Default HEATER REMOVAL Help!!!!!!

Never done this before, Have three screws out and unite is lose. However there is what looks like a plasticpop rivet in the top middle of case going through the fire wall. How do you deal with this? Run out of ideas short of small explosive charge. Thanks This is a 76 vette were dealing with.

I used my pickle fork on a bolt that held on my A/C box yesterday because it was put in a place that neither man nor wrench could get to.

The rivets hold a sheet metal panel on to the back of the main heater/defroster duct. Might sound like a stupid question, but have you removed the heater hoses from the firewall side? The heater core comes out with the duct work. Also should be 6 bolts (studs) holding it in. There are 3 that go around the blower motor end.

This link might help also.

Well the Heater is out. The offending bolt ran through the firewall and had a nut on it. It had a round head like a rivit. and was hiding behind an electric fuel pump someone mounted. I bought this car with the engine and trans already out so heater hoses should be no problem. Wrong, my predessor must have been in a hurry because he cut the hoses instead of undoing the clamps. After the appropriate references the the afore mentioned ancestry I finally got the clamps off and heater out. Thanks for the suggestions. they were very helpful. Pat W.
