I'm swapping the auto to a manual in my 78. I take it to mount the shifter bracket I have to drill and tap the holes in my cross member. Is this right or am I just missing something?
It is a t-10. It looks like I can bolt it to the trans. Just don't have the bracket. I put the cross member in the car and there is no way that I can see to fit the bracket on to it.
If you are using a stock shifter - the shifter mounts to a bracket that bolts to the crossmember. Yes - you will have to drill the holes in the automatics bolted in X member. I believe you will need 2 holes from the top & 2 into the back edge of the X member.
Or you could weld it once you determine the right location.
I would get some measurements for you Justin but mine is still stored away for winter.
Ok, I see where it goes. There are holes for 2 of them and then I just need to drill the back ones. Shouldn't be too bad. I got 2 of the bolts in to line it up in the hole through the floor so now I can get the lower shift boot on.
Got it mounted with the stock bracket and got the interior back together.
Now I just need to get the trans in so I can throw the rest of the crap on the car.
