Default eBay stainless headers: any good?

Anybody got any thoughts about these headers on eBay please?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=170203256244

Engine is basic L82 at the moment, but perhaps one day I'll be wanting to 'tweak' it upwards a couple of hundred hp with some aftermarket heads.

I don't know where to start with headers, but shipping costs are an issue since I'm in the UK.

Hello Ben,
You may want to do a search on this one before you buy then. There was a thread last April on Ebay Stainless Steel headers that did not fit. I am not sure if this is the same exact vendor but I do remember a couple of people paying about $ 130.00 for them at the time. I guess the main problem was that they sat too low to the ground, I think they were designed for pickup trucks.
See if this helps, this was the title to search for

Stainless Headers for $199???? Who knows about these?

I Bought A Set Just Like Those And They Seem To Be Good Product. The Only Problem I Had With Them Was Ground Clearance. After Mounting They Were 3 Inches From Ground And I Thought That Was Too Close So I Went With A Pair From Summit For 89.00. They Arent Stainless But Fit Very Well

Thanks Bill and Colin. I searched for "eBay headers" and found a thread in which ground clearance was mentioned, but the headers looked a bit different and I wasn't sure whether they're the same ones.

I don't want to take a risk with unknown headers unless I know they'll fit, but I don't know of any affordable sources for stainless alternatives.

I searched that vendor's history and found someone who's bought those same headers, and I've asked for their thoughts on the fit. I'll let you know what he says.

Yes indeed. I bought them with a touch of uncertainty, as, well.....you usually get what you pya for, you know? But those were pretty damn good. Not sure what kind of HP gains I made with them, as they are mated right now to puny 2 inch pipes.....but for 90 bucks, well, you just can't beat that. And I got mine in a nice satin black, which, when I'm all done with her, is going to match the rest of my motor.

Ran across this thread while reading up on project ideas, and thought that I'd throw in my $0.02.

I have no experience with this application, but with other vehicles, no-name ebay sourced stainless headers are generally chinese knock-offs of someone else's design. They are the automotive equivalent of the $20 designer label purse that your wife bought.

I know that there is a brand called "OBX" that sold stainless 99-06 GM truck headers that were a ripoff of an early dynatech design, that even had the same poor fitment issues that were corrected by dynatech.

Caveat emptor...

The Dynomax Corvette SB Cerama-Coat headers fit & flow great, much better than is commonly known. I have been rec. them & many have them now.

I did not know this until recently but headers make a big difference in the way engines perform. tube size will effect torque and length will effect power. when you do up grade your engine you don't want to have to buy again. look at the posts about fiberglass side pipes and header tube lenght. both have links to articals about exhast science. Living in England you don't want to buy something cheap and then find out it doesn't fit. I have also been told that ported to 2.5' manifolds will increase power tremendously.

Bump. Anybody got anything to add since March when I posted my original question? Anyone had luck buying cheap headers on eBay? :
