so i need to change the starter and i got the stupid bracket off... an hour later and now the exhaust is in the way. is there a way to get it out easier that removing it? I know that if i take it off ill be buying a new one this is my first project.. kinda.. and now i see how things will be adding up lol

That is how one job leads to another. When I was replacing my exhaust system I had the starter rebuilt even though it worked fine--was original starter and may not have been touched in 36 years. Also pulled the chrome plug wire covers off and had them rechromed.
