Default Speed Bleeders - Thread Size?

Does anybody know the thread specs (size, pitch) of the bleeder screws on C3 brake calipers? My parts supplier needs to know to order them.
Thanks,
Pete

You can get that at any local Autozone, Advance, or Oreilly. Maybe even Napa. The part number from Autozone is:

#12704

They work like normal bleeders in that they are tightened to seal, but loosened to bleed. The difference is that these bleeders have a spring loaded check valve ball, that will let fluid out, but no air back in. Also, the fluid can only get out when pressure is applied so just loosening the bleeder won't let fluid out unless you're pressing on the brake pedal.

That is what makes using them so good for a single person. You can open the valve, attach a tube to the end and a catch bottle, and go stomp on the pedal a few times. Check the fluid level in the master and go pump again.

Do that about twenty times per caliper, and you're guaranteed to not only get all the air out, but you refresh the fluid in the lines...which needs to be done every year or so.

They make bleeding the brakes a one man job (or one woman... )!

Default What I Have Learned About Speed Bleeders

I learned a couple of things about speed bleeders from this thread that I thought I'd sumarize and share with you.

The thread size is 5/16 X 24 NF. The bleeders in my new "correct" master cylinder are the same size.

The part number 12704 seems to be generic to all common brands. I have seen them under the HELP! label by Motormite, and by the Domman company.

Thanks for the replies!

Default watch out for mm.

Some rebuilt calipers have metric fittings for the bleeders.

I purchase these speed bleeders and plan to do the bleed first thing when the 70 vert comes out from hibernation. Question, when pumping the pedal does the MC cover need to be latched tight, or can the MC cover be left off completely?

I know when i've bled my brakes previously if i was not quick with the pedal and made sure the MC stayed full i didn't have to have the crap on 100%. I don't have any vette experiance though...

No you don't have to have the lid on the master to pump. Go slow, or it 'can' gurgle over the side.
