I finished installing my suspension from vbp. I changed the oil, plugs, wires, cap, rotor and oil sending unit. All my instruments and my tach stopped working. Any ideas on what to check first. Ground?
Check the fuses. There should be a fuse for the instriments/gages.
have you worked under the dash at all? If you find a blown fuse then you have a bad ground or instrament short. You may also check the conections to the gages and speedo/tach. Check the tach conection at the dist.
i just had the same problem and ripped my whole dash apart looking for bad wiring and chasing and replacing bare wires... (nightmare) and i was still blowing 2 fuses... then i finally found that the wire for my damn sending unit was burning on my headers... lmao.. i can laugh now since it was so simple...but it cost me about 12 hrs of my life chasing it down... so check that and good luck man.
For the tach, check connection at the distributor and also check the connection at the tach capacitor. I found this second connection point loose or bad connection a couple times on mine causing either irratic tach or no tach at all.
