I'd like to get a little more wheel/tire under the rear, without running flares (love them for earlier C3s, but don't like them as much on the later ones). Anyone done it? Tips?
Offset T-Arms will let you run a 9.5"-10" wide rim. After that, you have to start notching the frame. Norval has done it on his '75 but that is the only one I know of.
You'd have to cut the frame, find a new place to mount the shocks, and reroute your fuel line. Not sure if your battery box would be affected or not. That's the only issues I can think of off the top of my head, but I bet there is more.
Don’t forget custom length half shafts and spring! Battery will need to be moved about 3” towards the middle of the car. You are getting close to the drive shaft.
I have had the frame notched to clear the tires. The largest tire size that I was able to run was 28 x 13.5 - 15 ET Street tires. Those are the same size as 325/50/R15 Radials..
I have very small flares which also helped to keep the tires under the fenders.
Of course I'm running offset TA's and a shortened spring too!
If you get the suspension out of the way and the tires are hitting the body, tubbing the body is not so bad. A lot tougher if still on the car though but it can be done.
I have a different frame and C4 suspension so fitting the wider tires was easier, but with offset TA's and some other suggestions as above you can get some decent rubber under there.

Keep in mind I had to do some tricks with the carpet to make it look decent afterwards. I'm not done yet as we are in the process of building a surround panel to cover the stereo and amps back there, but I had to take extra pieces of carpet and tuck around the edges because the wheel wells being brought in 4" on each side required a little tweaking of the carpet.
Also in my case I cut off the storage compartment and battery box as the differential was going right there. You can tub it without going into the storage area though if using a stock rear setup.
