I ordered a suspension package from VBP a while back. I have finally got to the point of installing the rear sway bar and i have ran into a problem. The swaybar came with mounting plates for the trailing arms. The problem is where the holes are drillmed, the mounting plates will not lay flush to the trailing arm. I tried to take a picture, but its hard to see.
The front part of the mounting plate hits the front of the "round part" of the trailing arm, so that the front of the plate is about 1/8th of an inch out of flush with the trailing arm. My question is, can i simply mill off a small amount of the mounting plate to make it fit? or is there another problem, thanks
Looking back on that its complicated, hope someone can help.
Not 100% sure I follow but I will take a stab at it. I just helped re-install the rear swaybar ina friends 78 last weekend.
The flat plate with the 2 threaded holes goes inside the TA on the top plate. The bracket goes on top of the top plate withe the 2 bolts going down through the bracket, through the TA and into the threaded plate. You should not have any interferrence with where the TA kicks up.
Not to hijack....
That is a VERY nice looking rear suspension,,,,Have you had your alignment set yet?????I see the rear tire edge is BALD!!(ok on people, not tires)

It turned out that the frame and suspension on the 72 were pretty shot. This is what it looked like when we tok the body off:
And this is what it looks like now, after a new frame, lots of grunt work, and of course $:
To keep this somewhat on topic, I found it difficult to get a wrench on the top of the spring bolt with the swaybar plate mounted. It looks like the swaybar mount may have to be partially removed in order to adjust spring height.
