Actually those little stingers were just that.......a swarm of quik little sons-a-b's. I really gained a tremendous amount of respect for them....of course I couldn't wait to crush them on the straighter sections. It was alot of fun all around

Yep, don't underestimate a 'vair! Stingers ran in D production against B sedans (SB Camaros and Shelby Mustangs) as well as GT3 & 4 sedans that included Datsun 510's and Alfas. Their advantage was weight and brakes and over the course of a race would typically finish ahead of the bigger, heavier cars. Also, they were very wide into a turn (lift throttle oversteer) and almost impossible to outbrake and pass on the inside. Plus, you didn't want to be stuck behind them because during the course of a race they would leak a TON of oil! Ask me how I know

Hans
your mistaken, Camaros and Mustangs ran in A/S...the Shelby GT-350 and the 289 Cobra ran in B/P against the small block Corvette.....B/S was for smaller cars like Datsuns (but not the Z series).
