I have a pair of 350 cylinder heads that I can not identify based on the casting number. They are dual bump heads and the casting number is 8873370 the date code is 1179. So I know they are 1979 heads but just can'f match the casting number, and yes the number is legible and the same on both heads. Does anyone have a more detailed code book ? The heads look to be in real nice shape and I would like to use them as is on my 350 powered 84 pickup but want to know as much about them if possible. Thank in advance for any help you can provide.
If it is 3973370: 3973370....69-70...350..........over the counter in US, Canadian 350/300hp production use in Pontiac, 64cc, straight or angle plug
I just triple checked the casting number stamp and yes the 1st number is a "3" and the other numbers are very clear so the correct casting number is 3873370. And I just talked to the guy who had the heads and he said that he personally took them off a 1980 Corvette that had a 350, but he was not sure if the 350 was origional to the car.....
If these are double hump heads, that date code is probably for '69, I dont think they made camel hump heads much after 1970. Are they angle plug heads? The 3973370 were available over the counter with straight or angle plugs.
