Can you tell the flexplate teeth number by the starter mounting bolt locations? For example does the staggered mounting bolts mean a 168 tooth flexplate? Or does an in-line bolt pattern mean a 153 tooth?
To answer your question. No small block vettes came with a 168. Starter mounts often came with the different mount holes for either. Guys in the Know use 168. Hey - George said that his only regret is that he didn't take you out for a ride on the open freeway! I work swing shift and weekends dealing cards or you could have seen how he helped me into using a Crane solid lifter motor.
I'm happy. The funny thing is mine has been running for Ten years!

Well that makes parts ordering much easier. Thanks.
Would have been great to have met you while in Reno. I'm looking forward to returning to your fun town and will look forward to meeting you & checking out your Vette. I dunno about taking rides again with you Reno guys. LOL
I just saw this post. Since your drag racing at what point do they require SFI rated flex plates and dampers? I drive around with the dust cover plate off on my 700R4 just so I can pass tech. I also use the SFI fluid damper.
