Default Timing tab on '72 SB

The timing tab on my '72 SB has enough overspray on it to make the tab unreadable. The picture below is the style I have, and after installing my rebuilt stock distributor, I timed (with the vacuum unhooked and plugged, car at warmed up idle) it so that the mark came around to the center of the round cutout; it sounds pretty darn good there. Is that 12 degrees? I am afraid that if each tooth peak is 4 degrees, then setting the timing according to that will not the let the engine run at all (I guess I could have tried it anyways). I was using a borrowed trusty Sears timing light, old style. Thanks.[IMG][/IMG]

Default Runs like a top!

Thanks again for the picture, timed to 12 degrees, runs like a top! And a BIG thanks to Lars for the outstanding rebuild, now it 's on to the carburetor, with a short stop first at reclocking the distributor so that the tach cable lines up better.
