Re: Smoking Tires (jvm)
It is much easier with a standard, my first car was a 65 Rambler station wagon that was only running on 5 cylinders. Could lay down a nice patch with that :D

Re: Smoking Tires (MotorHead)
rev high foot on break, tranny in neutral, drop it to first, tires should spin... but if you have a weak tranny you'll be picking up parts, ie not recomended

Re: Smoking Tires (ZD75blue)
If you have an auto, then you probably can't spin them. I for one, don't have a problem in my baby (standard). :D
Nice color.
I agree with Neo, the net HP rating only accounted for accesory losses, not drivetrain. I'm still not positive if it accounted for exhaust or not. I do know from experience (and other posts) that you can really bring that vette to life by doing two things.
1. Free up the exhaust by either installing larger pipes and a free flowing cat if in a state that requires checks or by running true dual exhaust and no cats if you can get by with it. This also means rejetting the carb for the better breathing engine.
2. Have the distributor recurved to bring in full timing by 2500 RPM. Do a search for posts by Lars and contact him about a kit (well worth the small price).
You'll be surprised at how much better the ol girl runs.
BTW, can you resize the pic you posted? It would help us to not have to scroll back and forth.
Thanks and welcome to the Forum.
