Is There any reason I need to keep my OE overfow tank. I am going to install the 6al on the backside of the fender while I think I could get it to go back it would limit access to the box if there is problems. I have a new aluminum rad and duel fan set up. so I don't think that big 2gal wrap around thing is nessary but I know very little about engines& cooling systems. Cool Flex makes a nice looking tube type Thanks
I guess I'll clean it up and put er back in but I was sure hoping to use the pretty chrome job. could someone please explane to me the exact function of the overflow tank? Is it to prevent the ole hot water geyser like I remeber from my childhood days
It functions as a reservoir/return to your radiator..when coolant gets hot,it goes via return hose to the plastic tank.....when engine cools, the excess coolant goes back to your rad....on my 69,the aluminum tank has a pressure cap and dump tube to the ground..(no pressure cap on rad.)...different deal than the closed system on the 78....
