Default oil pump shaft

looking down the hole that the distributer goes into and wiggling the oil pump shaft with a long screw driver, how much should it move from side to side or front to back?

mine moves almost 1/4". does this sound right to you guys?

Yes, it's ok. The dist shaft has a small collar on the end that keeps the oil pump shaft from wiggleing. That oil pump shaft has a similar collar on the end that splines into the oil pump.

Stock collars are nylon and you can purchase a new shaft that come with a steel collar. Not sure if it is needed, however it does provide a sence on security.

Check your collar for cracks as they do break apart easily as they become brittle from heat.
