Just finished putting new carpet in a '75 coupe, hope there is not much difference. I don't have a picture.

Used the Mid-America carpet set. When the carpet is pushed to the top of the compartment (under the window) and over the light, and tucked in to the lower back at the flat, it had about 3" to 4'' hanging over the boxes in the back. We trimed that over hang after all other carpets were inplace, included left and right wheel wells and right behind the seat were in place. After that we installed the box doors. The trim on this part is just to the inside edge of the over hang, so that it does not interfer with the door frame.

This is also about the same way it works on a C4, completed a convertable last year.

If your's is to short check with the provider of the carpet, you may not have the correct set.

Good luck, Polo

first, let me thank you for your reply polo! does your back piece fit from the window to the compartment lid edge? i mean does it cover the flat area, and if so did you cut it under the rear light? mid-america also sent a thick padding to go under this rear piece.too bad they didn't include instructions.i have got all the rest put in,but am wondering about this piece.thanks again---john

J,

If you look on the Mid-america web site there are instructions that at least lay out the pieces in an order to put them down.

The back piece, starts at the top of the rear bulkhead, (under the window), runs down to the floor, then forward to the compartment lid ledge.

You will have to put the padding on to the bulkhead and floor first. I used 3M Automotive Car spray adhesive to attach the padding to the bulkhead. Spray the adhesive accross top half of the bulkhead, and to the bulkhead side of the pad. Let the adhesive get sticky 3 to 4 miniutes then put the pad up, then pull the pad up and alien as appropiate. Let it stay for 15 to 20 minutes. Then cut the hole for the light so you can find the screw wholes easily. Get the light wire where you can get at it and not cut it while you are making the opening.

I used a 2x4 to help push the carpet into the area where the bulkhead and floor meet. You may find that a little adhesive on the floor before the compartment helps keep it in place.

When using the adhesive try not to spray onto other carpet you have put down, and if you do get something on it take it off right away with a clean cloth. You can cover any attached carpet with newspaper while you are spraying and this should keep the mistakes to a minium.

Repeat the process for the carpet.

Sound's like you have the rest in the right order, this carpet will lay on top of the wheel well carpets on the floor.

Good Luck Polo

jjarrett - Polo and I put the piece up as high as it would go to the top of the rear area, pushed it into the base back corner and then checked the length at the front. We got a great fit in the side 'wing' area and trimmed it just under the compartment frame.

To do the lights we cut and x the right size and then connected it into a square. With the super thick backing/underlay from MidAmerica we had to push hard to get the light screws in.
