Where is a good place to get a wire for the igniton wire on my relay? I saw something about the wiper motor at one point in time. What color wire is it?
I have my engine out and painted the bay so don't know what color wiper motor is but the wire I am using for my ignition fan wire is a pink\red wire coming out of the center of the engine harness at top of fire wall. another pink heavier gage wire and a cream color were together I did not get to see where these wires were unpluged from because I had two employee's helping me pull the engine, but they had to come from the distruber\carb. The larger gage pink wire I am using for 6al, it is constant keyed power the other pink I am using for fans is intermittent keyed power ie: when you turn switch to start power is interupted, but I don't think that will effect the fan operation. I think the other wire was for Rpm's I have a wiring diagram if that will help I will send you a copy. Tom
are you running a manual switch on the dash somewhere or are you using a automatic sensor. out of my switch i ran to the fuse box direct. there are about 3 spair single positions there for things like this. they are listed as ign and are down the left side of the fuse box. so out of the relay the wire goes to the switch then another wire from the switch to the fuse box. then there is the earth.
I have a switch inside that is so I can turn it off if I so choose. I can just hook it up to one of those middle ing connectors in there? That sounds simple.

yes thats right it is simple. and the best thing about it is you arent splicing into other wires. look at your fuse box- you will see them where im talking about. they are there just for this reason as ppl add different stereos ,accessories and stuff so thats what they are for. just use your test light to see which ones are live . the one i hooked into is just above the GAUGES fuse and is actually part of that circuit so if you have a problem in the future for some reason with a fuse blowing you know where to look.
i myself as well like the manual switch idea. its what i use as i am the only one who drives my car...plus i dont trust the automatic sensors. i have used a few and find them unreliable.
Your fuse panel should have two accessory terminals you can tap into, am IGN and an ACC terminal. Both of those will energize when the engine is running. You just have to run a wire into the cabin near the fuse panel and connect to one of those terminals.
for my power to the relay i ran to the alternator.
for my power to the switch in the cabin i ran to the fuse box.
then all you have to do is earth the wire from the fan,
run the other wire from fan to relay. run an earth from relay to chassis or earth on alternator.
then run another cable from relay to your switch in cabin.
then earth switch.
i used my alternator cause thats where my relay is.
just be sure to have the correct pins on your relay to the correct components, i forget the number codes..otherwise pop
