I'm swapping out a Qjet with divorce choke and throttle solenoid. I am swapping it with a new carb the has electric choke an no solenoid. Can I use the wire from the solenoid for the electric choke? It has 12v when the key switch is on.
Folks, I'm hoping that by giving this a bump I can get assistance from the experts. My light tester show good power to the electric choke connection on the new holley, but I get no choke action at all. The choke flap does not engage at all when I turn on the key and depress the throttle pedal like it should. Carb is brand new Holley 4175.. Any idea's?
The solenoid wire is not a good source of 12 Volts for the choke. You need to go to the "accessory" circuit that only powers "ON" when the key is turned on and the engine running. Depending on the year car the solenoid is ON and OFF at varying times and doesn't have the power capability to operate the electric choke.

thanks in advance
Thats what I did when I put on the holley carb. Been like that for years without any issues. My car is a 73 and the wire is hot all the time when the key is on.
Some other years used the solenoid to cycle when the AC is on/off, that would not work for the choke.
Do you mean that the choke butterfly never closes? It should be adjusted so it will close when the engine is cold. When you start it or turn on the key, the choke ciol will get power and begin to heat up and open over the space of a few minutes. It can be adjusted leaner or richer which means it opens faster or slower.

Thanks tbird, with this tip and some info I found searching some other posts on the subject, I got it all adjusted and running great. I'm off at the crack of dawn to join the SVCC for a cruise to a wine fest.
