Default Sealing around electric fan?

What should I use between the radiator and the fan? I have some foam tape that is sticky on one side, it is like outdoor weather striping. Would this melt?

That's what I used. The radiator doesn't get hot enough to melt that stuff.

Mine came with sticky cushions that go where the straps are inserted.

I have dual Spals from Tom DeWitt, now I would have mounted to the rad as suggested, but not the rad I have i'ts stockish from a '89 F body V8,

so I put someangle aluminum from the rear tabs of the rad mounts, running laterally, side/side....then set the fans on the aluminum bolted down, then put some aluminum house roof flashing under the bottom bolts bent forward to the rad support, then had some bent aluminum flashing from skylights, cut that down and bolted to the sides of the fan shroud to catch the rad tank edges just under a fair pressure, contact only, no glues....now I put a rubber door sweep like for front doors/ storm doors along the top edge to catch the rad top....

this way the fans are about 2" behind the rad core, sucking through the entire core and not just a section of it, YMMV , depending on your fans/shroud/size/etc....

I have the fans run by my DPFI computer, so it's not any worry about controllers or what, they ON or OFF, just like factory stock....

I used the campershell foam on mine to seal it...it seams to be working ok.

I ended up taking some "be-cool" brackets and some aluminum bar stock from lowes and fabbing a mount for mine. You can see the foam in the picture.

Default I used the rubber seal from a flex-a-lite fan...

You can order it separately...I searched and found it for you:

http://www.flex-a-lite.com/catalogs/...gory_Code=comp

I used it on my Mark VIII fan; just happened to have a flex-a-lite 210 fan that I was not using. You can see some pics under "my corvette pics" off to the left here:
<<<<----

I was going to replace the pictures since I've relocated the temp controller and replaced the upper attachment points with some angled-aluminum--- but then you couldn't see the rubber seal. I was just lucky to have the old fan and seal, but the application is just about perfect.

Those "strap through the radiator" installations have always scared me a bit.

I agree, years ago some lady slammed the side of my hotrod, and the rad mounted fan sprung a leak in a 2 y/o radiator....HER insurance company didn't want to pay for it, I had to get LOUD....their reasoning was it was not a stock installation, stock for WHAT???

all I know is Dwayne installed a new radiator and I never did a mount for anything other than a ATF cooler, they don't weigh anything compared to that electric motor....

I have my transmission cooler mounted that way to my A/C condenser, but that's different than hanging a heavy fan upside down from the radiator as the tranny cooler sits above the condenser and doesn't weigh much of anything. The straps are there more to keep it from jumping around than anything else.
