Default Coolant sensors

I've asked this before, I'm asking again hoping for new info...

My Dart Pro1 heads are tapped for 3/8" pipe thread. The original water temp sender is 1/2" pipe. Unfortunately, I found this out after the motor was in the car. Has anyone found a source for a compatible 3/8 sender? I thought I found one that was close, but its reading 250 when my Gen 7 says 190. I can't be the first person to have this problem.

Thanks,
Bob

Love to find out myself, but I don't think so, as it's a generational type custom thing, and no sender companies are tooling up for the changeover....

I use a Ford truck 5.0 sender and redid the resistors in the series/shunt of my stock temp gauge...but it's not good except in the specifics of range ...180-220f....anything outside that, i'ts useless....

going to do aftermarket gauges sometime anyway...sauer grapes...

I put a 82 covette coolant sensor in my vortec heads. The connecter will have to be changed but it works great in my car.

I used the intake manifold for water temp. It uses the same size sending unit as the head.

Maggie82,

Thanks for the tip. I'll give that a try.

Tina69:
I would have liked to try the manifold, but the Gen 7 sensor is in that spot.

Thanks,
Bob
