My driver is a 1972 Camaro that I got for $4500. So far it hasn't taken much to keep it on the road (knock on wood). All it really needs is a paint job and a new dash pad. If you look around, things like that pop up.
BTW, if anyone wants to buy my previous driver, a 2000 Jeep Wrangler, drop me a line...

I'm 16 now and finally got a job, started last friday. I have got [basically] the same dream as you do. I want a 80-81 4spd though.
I am in no position to give advise, BUT:If its something you really want, find a way to make money and see if you can make it happen.
That is what I am going to try to do at least.
I dont know about that i have a '69 vert that i paid 8.5k for and have put about 3k in so far including an engine rebuild that is happening right now. It does have a bad paint job but nothing im embarrased to drive. Everything else is near perfect though i would feel safe driving the car anywhere. I have probly saved avout $3k by doing all of the work to get everything fixed myself though.

You really need to closely examine your budget. A job is a step in the right direction. You could also take out a loan, but you had better have a loan to keep up the monthly payments!
There is no reason why you can't own a Corvette by the time you are 16. One question for you. If you did manage to get a Corvette, what would you drive in the winter? A Corvette isn't really the ideal winter car if you know what I mean.
Have you considered maybe a '70s Camaro or Firebird? I know it's not a Corvette, but they can be had much cheaper.
At least you have a good taste in cars :yesnod: . Good luck in your quest for the Corvette!
Good suggestions, i have an open mind on my first car.
NYC is not the best place for any car during the winter. I would need a lot of rust proofing. I might need some money for future dent removal. :D
