Hello all, i have a brakes issue I find somewhat strange. This morning I bled my system using a pressure bleeder. I followed the correct sequencem but when I got to the RF brake, no fluid was flowing through the bleeder. I closed the bleeder screw, topped off the MC and took a short drive down the street. My brake light was on prior to bleeding the system, as I drove down the street, it stayed out, however upon appling the brakes, the car pulled to the left....I suspect it is because of the RF caplier. The brake light would come on for a second and go back out. Could it be that the hose or the line itself has a restriction, or the caliper itself is faulty. Pedal goes to the floor. Booster seems to work properly, the pedal gets hard after you pump it when the vehicle is off.
I am tired of messing with these brakes, checking and shimming for runout, springs, rusty looking calipers, with rusted brake hose fittings, etc. I am going to put C5 calipers on the car. I already have them and next week I am taking the front spindle along with the hub, C5 rotor, pads, and appropriate hardware to the local machinist to fab brackets for the front brakes and next month I will have them fab brackets for the rear brakes.
In the meantime am I correct about the possible causes for the erratic action of these damn brakes?
My guess would be that the flex hose to the RF caliper is restricted and isn't moving fluid at the low pressure the bleeder uses. You should be able to bleed that caliper by the push the pedal then open and close the bleeder screw method.
It does sound like a collapsed hose going to that caliper. You could try disconnecting the hose from the caliper and see if you are getting any fluid through it.
Ok, not to sound like an idiot but I actually had this happen, the person I purchased the car from had problems with the brakes pulling and attached a screw clamp on the brake line. It looked like it belonged so I didn't notice. Not that that is what is going on but just a thought.
Maybe the bleeder screw port is full of junk, remove bleeder screw and stick some wire into the hole and see if fluid comes out. Replacing old deteriorated rubber hoses is also a very good insurance and only about $15 per hose.
oldguard7 Hey you said when you pump up brakes when car is off and you get a hard pedal at that time holding down firmly on the brake pedal and having someone open the bleeder does the pedal drop or not.If it does then their is still air in the line if it doesnt then the line is plugged.Think that should do it.And yes you are correct it is in the right front caliper or hose that is the problem. If you took a small pair of vise grips and clamped down on the left front rubber hose and drove the car the pull would be gone-but dont do that -thats old school

If you hold pressure on the pedal and someone opens the bleeder causing the pedal to drop, that does not necessarily mean there is air in the line. If it drops without fluid coming out of the bleeder it certainly means air in the system. If it drops with fluid coming out the bleeder, that is normal.
Well he said no fluid came out when he tried to bleed that caliper. Then he took it for a drive and it yanked him to the left.Thats why i said to two-man bleed again at that caliper-pump up beakes car off hold pedal down firm open bleeder.Does the pedal go down.He said nothing came out, just trying to determine if the line is bad or still air in the system.
