Where can I buy a good dial indicator to align the bellhousing?

Depends how much money you want to spend. Harbor freight is probably the cheapest for a new one. Check your local pawn shop as out of work machinists pawn those type of tools. Check fleabay as well.

what does it mean when it says 1" travel for a dial indicator?

That means the stem in the dial indicator will travel a total of 1 inch.

Yes that should work fine. That is very similar to what I have and have been using for years. I don't have all the pointers but that should not matter.
