Default Switch by drivers left leg

I have noticed on several pictures of the interior of some corvettes that there is a switch located on the center plastic about where the drivers calf would be. My car has a small hole in this area and I am wondering what it is. Is this something stock that has been removed?

I believe the switch you are referring to is for the defroster. BTW, my wife and I are both grads of Chadron State. She grew up in Scottsbluff and we now reside in South Florida.

Are you talking about the cluster of 3 switches just below the steering column? If so, that is for the headlight flip-up override, wiper door override, and....my mind is failing me. Can't remember the third.

If you mean further to the left the I think you're referring to the odometer trip reset.

Just curious, what year did you graduate CSC? My dad taught math there for many years.

Thanks for the info on the switch.

It is on a 72 and the car does not have a rear window defroster but that would explain a few things...maybe a used part from another car?

Thanks everyone!!

The **** between the override swithes stops the wipers when you turn it.

Graduated in '66. I had a math minor but don't recall the name Kaus. The math teachers I remember were Briggs and Miller. Do you know a Steele in Chadron. Not sure about his first name but I think it is Ben. His father ran a small restaurant there.
