When my '69 vette sets up for more than a day or so, it's very hard to start. I have to pump the accelerator, maybe, twenty times before the car will start. When I start the car on a daily basis, I still have to pump the accelerator some, but only a few times. And the car will start.
I've had the problem for some time. Over time in response to the problem, I've changed spark plugs, pcv valve, put new points and condenser in the car and checked the timing (at least within the last 1000 miles.) Once the car is running, it runs well -- no misses or pings that I can detect.
I could do some of the above again. But one of the things I haven't touched is the carburetor or any other element in the fuel system. Does anyone have any idea as to what might be my problem?

Your carb is draining it's gas overnight. My 68 427/390 with Q-Jet did the same thing. I ditched the Q-Jet and bolted in a Holley spreadbore. Problem solved. Starts immediately even after sitting for days. It is possible that your choke is not set up properly.

I've priced the q-jets at various places like MidAmerica. I'll probably put another q-jet on the car. Over the years, it's all I've had on the car, and the q-jets perform pretty well when they are in good shape.
Actually, I had mine rebuilt a few years back, so it may be time for another one.
