Omg Wtf Ashtray Door

yeah....I have a 79.....

and I cant get this damn thing to work correctly.....

and the aftermarket bushings are garbage dont buy them....and I dont know if its the after market ashtray door or aftermarker console but this **** doesnt fit together right......

sooo frustrated.........and the spring...wtf

sorry about the rant anyone have any pictures of how this thing is supposed to go together???

I know where your coming from. I had to bend the brackets on the door so it would close properly in the console plate.

Lay the door flush into the top console. Then bend the brakets so they match up with the mounting holes in the console. Becarefull when bending small amounts at a time.

I had to file the foward edge of the console plate so the door would close. These aftermarket parts look good. But most times they are out of spec.

It looks like a question about how stock parts fit together for re-installation. Sounds rather technical.

did you put a new console cover on? I just did the same and after I painted the ash tray door, put it on and it scraped all the paint off the back side. I have to trim the new console cover......
