Default 72 LT1 - Horn wiring

when i push the horn button, there is some juice flowing because i get a clicking sound (around where the horn relay is) - this happens whether or not the ignition is in the "on" position - but there is no horn sound - what do you think is the issue? - how would i fix it? - many thanks!! ED

Probably horn relay. It's on firewall passenger side on an 81. Often its in the steering column, but if you are hearing an electrical contact, I would look to the relay.

If the horn relay clicks, your horn is probably dead or like mine were, stuck. I took them off and banged them around and now they work. Also check the ground- core support, where the horns mount, to the frame. Bad gound could also be the problem.

Check your connections for corrosion. Horns are normally grounded through their body. Apply 12v. with a jumper wire momentarily to the horns electrical contact and they should work(should have a low tone and a high tone horn). If not the relay is faulty.

The clicking sound at the relay would tell me that your relay is working, provided its getting full power. My bet would be a terminal connection issue.
