Default OD tranny Q's

Although this is not Corvette specific, it IS GM specific and thought I'd ask here for some help on my Brothers behalf. He has a '34 Ford Roadster, 350/400 Turbo and wants to go to an OD tranny. Thinking either 700R4 or 200R4. Does anyone know if...one of the two is the same length (eliminate driveline shorten/lengthen) and the output shaft spline differences? Also primary differences between the 700 and 200? I'm hearing both are capable of 800+ HP and one possible diff. between the two is, like, gearing between a close-ratio/long-ratio Muncie.
Any help would be deeply appreciated.

The 2004R is almost a drop in replacement for the TH350. Nothing major but might need to fab or replace existing trans xmember. Existing drive shaft length is not an issue. The first 3 gears of the 2004R are identical to the TH350. Of course you'll need to hook up some wiring for the TC lockup.

Lots of us here on the Forum have opted for BTO Level 2's and 3's. Might want to give BTO a call for more specific questions such as max. RECOMMENDED horse power ratings.

I have to disagree on one point.

The only gear the 2004R and the THM350 share is third gear. The rest are diffrent.

LONG time GM hotrodder here from A,B,F,G and Y body cars of the era....

it's depending on the length of the tranny in the original install....

the 350 MAYBE, but certainly the 400 had THREE differant tail shaft housing lengths...the main body being the same.....so that means 3 differant possible driveshaft lengths on the current install....

obviously depending on the OEM car that tranny came out of....but maybe not even then....on account of the output shafts and housings can be switched in a rebuild...leaving some tag intact on the tranny main housing....

I THINK the 350 also had 3 differant lengths, but I MAY be rong....only TWO that I know of.....

then there is the thm375 which is essentially a 400 tranny with a 350 output shaft/housing.....

just to confuse you more.....

you need measure the LOA of the tranny in there, and go from that .....
