Trying to decide which way to go. Which one would reduce sound the most. I am trying to lessen the noise a bit, plus pick up some performance. Anyone have experience with both setups?
Dr Gas, I believe is the name. X pipe will fit C-3's. I have a 2&1/2" version located right behind crossmember on a '69. Previous comments on power & sound are similar to my results. I would recommend X pipe from Dr. Gas.
I went to the Dr. Gas webpage and saw the x-pipes. It did not appear that they had a kit specifically for corvettes. Did you buy a corvette specific kit or did you just use their x-pipe and have some pipes bent for it?
Made my own from two 45 degree mandrel bends. It took quite a while to determine the points of intersection and then to get it welded and smoothed inside. I don't think a muffler shop could make as well or as cheaply as Dr. Gas.
I'm using a Dr Gas 3' to 2.5 X-pipe and a complete mandrel bent system through Flowmaster delta flows. I have n dyno #'s but It works REAL well with my engine setup.
For a short MPEG go to http://home.earthlink.net/~hjnsn and click on GP6T.
My buddies Mustang has a 347 with the same exhaust system as well and it runs REAL HARD
The best idea is to buy just the X-pipe itself and have the other pipes fabricated by a good muffler shop. I bought a "kit" and wound up not using the supplied pipes (they weren't Corvette specific and did not fit exactly right).
Don't remember the web address, if you still haven't found it by now post here and I'll dig through my old receipts file for the ph. #.
No way you can get one built better at a muffler shop than their version. They've done the R & D and have got a sweet little product that works. They supply most of NASCAR with them. This is a cheap (relatively) power increase.
