Please help identify broken wire in battery compartment.
I don't know what that little wire is, and I haven't gotten a good enough manual yet. what is that, accessory return or something? is it why my battery never gets a charge? it looked like it had been broken previously and soldered to the post.
Could it be a replacement cable? My guess would be for an accessory it is not on my car,I am an original owner of a 79.(OOPS,Answered with out reading earlier mail)
i also don't have any proof that it was ever connected. it was broken before i ever looked at it. so i don't know
That is definitely why your battery isn't charging !!!!!
I installed an '80 wiring harness in my '76 and transferred that terminal and everything else into my vette. The other wire comes from the alternator (it's a direct charging line) and then that wire hooks to the battery to charge it ! If you follow that wire forward, it goes into the frame -- to the engine compartment -- and to the charging post on the alternator.
I had installed extra wires to that terminal for power to my electric fans..................... fan wires were too small......... drew too much amperage away from that terminal block....... started frying all the wires and discharging my battery. Took a couple of months to figure out what the problem was................ but all is fine (and charging) now !
Use heavy wire and repair ti and you'll be good to go ! Rick
