Default carb ?

I have an edelbrock carb. When I open up the throttle by hand with the engine off the secondaries do nothing. Should they move or are they controlled some other way. The car runs great I`d just like to know I have a functioning carb.

if it is a automatic choke carb, there is a secondary lockout lever to keep the secondarys from opening until the choke is fully open.

It has an electric choke. I tried the throttle when it was warm and the choke was off and when it was cold.

If the motor is warm and the choke is off with the engine running should the secondary butterflys open when the throttle is wide open?

If it is vac secondaries they will not open without the engine running, if it is mech secondaries they should unless the choke is still engaged.

Vacumn secondaries won't open by just reving the engine in the garage. The engine has to be under load at the time to build up enough vacumn. The way to check it is to put a paper clip around the linkage to the secondaries and then drive the car under load to open the secondaries. When you get back to the garage look at thye paper clip and see if it was forced to a different position on the shaft to visably verify that the linkage opened. I believe there is a paper in the archives to explain this maybe a little clearer than I have.
