I have seen a set a guy made on here but I could not find it You may have to do a little more searching but its out there. He bought some bends from Jegs ect. and some lenght of pipe from a local muffler shop and welded them up. I also heard someone say to buy pipe from Jegs ect due to muffler shop haveing inferior material. This tread was from about 3 wk to a month ago hope this helps. Look at Stahl's site and steel his design
Do you mean the actual side tubes or the headers? My brother made some, just a long section of straight 4" stainless and a 90 degree elbow welded on, then cut down. 84rvz500r made his own also.

I'm talking about the pipes - I'll probably just buy the headers.

I think Hooker and Stahl are the end of those options.
Really? Well, maybe I'll buy one of those exhaust header kits that come with a bunch of mandral bends that you can cut sections and weld together, something like this...
Include two chromed outside pipes with 3" diameter case, two slotted shields, two 18-gauge tuned mufflers, hangers, clamps and all parts for installation except hookup to your present exhaust. Install according to your needs or as a stylish, non-functional custom accessory. Sold in pairs. Recommended for horizontal mounting only. Check local emission laws before ordering. Not legal for sale or use on California pollution-controlled motor vehicles. This product is intended for off-road or racing use only and is not intended or applicable for highway use.
I did not like the hooker set up because everyone I knew had the side of the pipes burnt to thier legs.I wanted some kind of sheilding.I ended up finding a set of Patriot side pipes I got mine from ebay but I know that you can get them at Jegs. The mounting brackets are too low so I remade them but I am very pleased with the final resuts. If I am correct these pipes are based off the Thrush system from the 70"s.Best of Luck.

Easily fixed by a quality set of Bangkok Dean's Steel Sheilds.
I made a set that hooked up to the stock manifolds on mine. It's an original sidepipe car, but they were long gone and it had a set of Thrush sidepipes that were literally dragging on the ground when I got it!
Mine are pretty simple, but the look nice and sound great. I started with a 24" glaspack in the center, then purchased two 4" mandrel bend 'U' exhaust pipes. For the front, I cut one in half right in the center of the bend. For the rear outlet, I cut the center of the U-bend out leaving just enough for a cool looking side outlet. I welded a header flange onto that to bring it down to 2 1/2" pipe up to the stock exhaust manifold.
As for the headers, I purchased a used set of Heddman side exhaust headers for a BB from a fellow forum member, but unfortunately the would not fit my factory A/C car due to interference with the A/C case. Boy, was I bummed!
I have pictures of the sidepipes throughout the construction, and the headers are for sale.
search archives for those built for sbc C3 by b71vette ... he used hedman side dump headers made for 69 w/ OE side pipes ... then he & his son fabbed up a set of sidepipes & fit them under OE cast AL side covers. Their project turned out as nice as I've seen.

We made an extra set of 4" side pipes with mufflers built in for street and/or track use where decibles are limited. This size and the parts in 3" or 4" are commonly used for diesel semi trucks. The parts are cheap and easy to find, the toughest part will be the mating flange and proper alignments.
