While looking through my Corvette Black Book, I noticed something interesting. C3 weight changed dramatically over the years. In the early 60's, the weight was around 3000 pounds, then by the mid 70's it had grown to over 3400! By '82, it was back down to 3200, probably due to the extensive use of aluminum in the chassis.
So, how much does your car weight? (without driver please ;))
Well I've weighed mine at the Track...With me in it it was 3306. Subtract my butt and you get around 3121. Thats with alum heads, intake, Rad, and a number of other lighter parts.
My 74 is 3344 with aluminum heads and intake, headers, fibreglass spring, and ~100 lbs of stereo with 1/2 tank of gas. 1650 front and 1672 rear (I know it doesn't add up, truck scale).
I weighed mine a while back, I can't remember how much gas was in the tank though (probably half a tank). The 'Vette weighed nearly 3500lbs with me in it. Subtract my 140lb body and the 'Vette weighs 3360lbs.
I might as well enjoy it now because whenever I drop the cast iron bitch in (big block)...I'll be lucky to weigh in 3600lbs (car without me in it). :D
This is an interesting topic. I've never weighed mine, but the Secretary of State (same as DMV) used 2900lbs when I registered it. I was happy because they base your fees on vehicle weight. Go figure. I still had to pay tax on a used car though, so IMHO I still got screwed. :mad
3160 with spare and half tank, on the certified scale at Sacramento raceway. I have since added the carpet but the A/C compressor and condenser are still out. It has PB, but no P/S. Hoping the aluminum radiator and heads ofset the A/C! Power to weight ratio is the holy grail for me, but I gotta have the air!.
One of my neighbors has a 4 corner scale for his race car. We went down to his shop one night & my Vette weighed in at 3411 lbs. with a light fuel load, headers instead of heavy stock manifolds, & no spare tire or carrier. I've since gone to aluminum water pump & aluminum radiator, so I guess I'm around 3400 or so now.
I imported my -72 a couple of years ago. It was weighed when I took it to be registered for road use here. The gas tank was almost empty, total weight was 3100lb, 1540lb in front, 1520lb rear. With full tank probably around 3220lb. It's a sb with auto, ps & pb but no air.
