after a lot high dollar and hi effort attemps to solve my overheat (all in vain i might add) i think i might have it fixed. 90% fixed anyway.i now have a steady 190* at t-stat hsng . 90 degree ambient temp, hood closed idling for 5 minutes, as soon as the car starts moving temp starts down, and stabilizes around 183-185. now the only glitch in the system is this , idling with A/C on temp still creeps up, shut the A/C off @ 207* and temp slowly came back down.again once i got moving,it was back to 185 pretty quick. i'm going to assume the fan is maxed out with no A/C and with A/C it just won't keep up enough airflow.
this is the moment you have all been waiting for....the fix. LOWER RADIATOR HOSE was being sucked shut, not completely but enought to cause a problem. feel free to lay on some verbal abuse because i certainly deserve it.thats some very basic stuff that just kind of slipped through the cracks.
thanks again for all the input on this comedy of errors. i'm gonna look back on this one day and laugh........but not today.
it happens to everyone at least once.. its happened to me about 300x this year alone... and i just got the vette in march!! anyways, glad you got it fixed.. and always remember KISS.. Keep it simple......
most of the ones i have seen have the spring , this one did not, i assume ( thats what got me into this mess) that the oe gm hoses had the spring, i got a universal fits all flex hose ( with wire ).
