Default Yoke End Play

Hi All,

I just installed the rebuilt (Eckler) yokes in my rebuilt diff and I have .020 on one and .040 on the other.

Is this a problem?

I doubt it's the yoke more likely the posi setup. Typical of a stock rebuild. I set mine to 005-010"

So I guess my diff builder should have had the yokes before he turned it over to me. Is this within "specs" and I shouldn't worry about it?

That's what you get with a stock rebuild - even if he had the yokes, the endplay isn't going to change. It requires shimming the posi unit.

Thanks for the replies all. However I never really heard that is NOT ok....so
Sunday night I installed the diff. That's all that I've done at this point....it would be easy enough to drop. Three bolts and it's down.

Today .....I have this check in my spirit...so to speak, that it's not ok and not to continue.

Please advise. Is .040" too much end play? Should I drop it and get it set up?

Thanks.

If the diff was rebuilt the play is in the posi you'll be ok. I would like to see it at 005-010 but I know stock rebuilds are not going to be that close. go ahead and install it, drive the car. The yokes have hardened tips now so they're not going to wear out real fast.
If you're real **** then you can remove the diff but be aware you're going to have to work on the posi.

Thanks a ton....GTR1999. This car will be driven maybe 3k per year and is not anything high performance either. I have other cars for that.

Thanks again.
