Default Help Needed For 1977 Wiring Problem

Can anyone help me? My forward light wiring harness was fried and I just installed a new harness.
I have parking lights, side lights, tail lights.
My right side turn signals work but my left front turn signal dosn't work nor does the left front side light flash. The rear turn signal works fine.
I have brake lights and the turn signal indicators work on the dash.
I also have no head lights that work.
I have no wipers that work either.
I have checked what I have done and everything looks fine and all the grounds are in place that I can see.
Thank you,
Mike

Mike it sure acts like a ground problem. First I would take a piece of wire from the sngle terminal on the wiper motor and ground it against the frame and see if the wiper motor operates. As far as the lights there is a ground that is located from the book center of front fender support that you can check. Have you checked for power up to the light switch? It should be a red wire.

What do you mean "book center of front fender".
I have not checked for the power to the switch yet but will do so. I have taken the dash apart so many times it is getting old. Nothing is easy to get at.
Do you think anything could be wrong where I plugged the wiring harness to the firewall in the connector?
Also, do you think that the circuit breaker for the lights and wiper could be blown. It mentions them in the owners manual but dosn't tell me where they are located in the car. It sounds like they need to be disconnected and rewired back on.
Thanks,
Mike

When you had the dash out. Did you connect the two ground wires going to the tach and speedo. They are at the bottom going to two male spade terminals. That supplys the ground to the tach, speedo. and headlamp switch.

I did connect both of the grounds to the tach and speedo. I will however look again.
I was also wondering if somehow some of the connections where I plugged the new wiring harness to the firewall could have become bent or something to cause this problem. What do you think?

I took the plug off the fire wall and reinstalled it. I now have the wipers working and have high beam headlights. I don't have low beam head lights nor do my left front turn signals flash.
I am getting closer to having everything working.
Any more suggestions as I am out of ideas.
Thanks,
Mike

The link is of all the electrical diagrams for the 1977 model. Each picture is just a thumbnail so they do enlarge nicely and print out almost full page size.
Hope this helps,
Brian

Thanks for the help. That was very nice of you.
The car you have on your posting is identical to mine.
Thanks again.

If one or more wires in your front light harness is really and literally fried (as in the insulation is actaully melted), you need to follow the fried wire(s) back to the fuse panel. Look for damage to the fuse panel and on into the dash harness if necessay.

If the fried wire(s) got hot enough to melt the insulation, chances are that the insulation on the wires that were bundeled and touching the melted wire(s) is also melted.
