Hey guys I have been running Redline oil in my flat tappet engine without any problems so when I went to re-order from Jegs I asked the tech. about switching to diesel for the extra protection after reading about all the guys doing so and he said definitely....But after changing my oil I read an article from Redline stating that they advise not to use diesel because it might cause plug fouling....So I called Jegs back and the tech. said I will be ok....What do you guys think...Am I safe or should I drain her........Thanx...Jerrylee///
If all it does is foul the plugs its no biggie. But how could it foul them unless you have sealing problems already? If the rings and valve seals are OK then oil shouldn't get past them.
Thanx 4 the input SH-60B...My engine is running awsome I was just thrown off as to why they say not to use when there are so many who are using diesel with great results......As 4 the name are you a member of the Seahawk family? If so a big thumbs up....Thanx again...Jerrylee///
I think anyone who runs Diesel oil in a high speed gasoline motor is looking for trouble. This subject has been covered many times, Brad Penn oils, Joe Gibbs Racing oils, Valvoline "not for street use" racing oils, and Castrol with it's newly introduced "Classic" series of motor oils have the proper amount of ZDDP additives to keep a flat tappet cam alive. Do some internet research on the subject
If you read my thread you will find that I did my research as I have been using Redline 10-30 which has more then enough additives of ZDDP...My problem arose when I was mislead by the tech. from Jegs who told me to switch to the diesel but then as I did more research after I made the purchase I saw the note from Redline stating not to use there diesel in the regular gas engines...Then when I went to complain to Jegs they told me not to worry it won't do any damage so that's when I decieded to ask you guys for some help......Jerrylee///
