I'm experiencing a weird bounce in the brake pedal of my 69 when I come to a complete stop. It has a consistent feel until the car comes to a stop then the pedal feels like it pushes back on my foot then it goes right back down. It is hard to explain, but the best way to describe it is it feels like the brake fluid is sloshing around. It seems to do start doing it when the car is hot. The pedal also feels a little softer in general around the time it does it, too.
Just as some background, they are manual brakes and I have had the front discs, calipers, and pads replaced. I don't know if it did this before the change since they were replaced right away. I also replaced the fluid in the master cylinder side for the rear brakes since it was looking inky, but I haven't flushed the whole line yet. Also, my front left caliper was leaking a little when it was first put on, but stopped after using the brakes a few times.
Any thoughts as to what it could be or how to fix it?
sounds like rotor runout to me. a bad rotor will push back on the pedal and it is more noticable the slower you go.its not unheard of to have a bad rotor right out of the box
i had the same symptoms on a hydraboost system a while back, it was low on fluid and full of air....... give that a try , you may have air in the master cyl so start the bleed there, good luck
Air in the lines would make sense. The leak it had a few months ago had drained the master cylinder. I had refilled it but not bled it since I thought the shop had bled them when they installed the brakes and the fluid level was just below the master cylinder.
I'll try bleeding the system and hopefully that makes it go away.
