C3 Rear End (1970)
Hi,
I have just started getting a thumping sound in the rear end. Just at certain speeds. Could this be the universal joints on the parts of the rear end that independently drive each wheel? If the gears were messed up would they nit grind instead of thump? ANy help would be great. Maybe there is a way for me to check it out? Thanks

Definitely get under the back of the car and inspect all of the six U-joints, however, if all of the drive shaft and half shaft angles are still good, you wouldn't get much thumping.
What speeds are we talking here, where you get this noise? Acceleration? Deceleration? Braking, or cornering? Do any of those conditions make a difference?
