Reason: spelling
I have a similar motor and HEI tach drive dizzy from engine factory.com
the fact that a replacement dizzy didn't solve your problem makes me lean toward your 12 volt supply to the dizzy.
Check that you have true 12volts available to your distributor, with your key in the "on" position. It should also go to 0 volts when the ignition key is off. If power is on continuously, you will burn out the coil inside the dizzy.
Next, have a look at the plastic socket which holds the three wires coming out of the dizzy base which plugs into the cap. Make sure all three terminals are seated correctly in the plastic socket housing. Tug at each wire and make sure they do not come out of the socket.
I had intermittent issues with my motor due to the red terminal NOT being secured properly in the socket. The red wire provides the 12v supply to the HEI module inside the dizzy.
Also make sure that the socket seats tightly onto the respective terminals on the cap when you insert it.
Where are you sourcing the HEI tach drive dizzy from?
There are some poor quality cheap ones on Ebay at the moment.
I just looked up some of your previous posts..... I noticed you have recently installed a rev limit kit. Have you tried your motor with that kit removed? The problem may be in that component!

OK... I guess the intermittent power to the HEI module may have caused a spike which fried it. Glad you've found the problem.
Always happy to help out a fellow rev head... especially one with a 68 vette
