Anyone have any suggestions. I just replaced the warning switch and thwe ignition lock assembly. Horn, turn signals, flashers, etc. all work. Checked the horn relay and is works. Anyone out there fixed this? Thanks
Can someone explain exactly how the key buzzer works in a 1971. That controls it, what relay, where relay is (picture?), and if it was an option or standard. Lots of posts but no expert definitive feedback....mine doesnt work but all other things do - horn, seat belt (but need to push button to turn off), turn signals etc etc.
Jim Shea is a forum member, and a former engineer at Saginaw. He has put all of his steering papers online at the below website. Anything you could possible want to know about Corvette steering is there.
saw that and will read it all....right now I want to know where the relay is...no use pulling anythign apart if a bad relay is the culprit...any clue where and what it looks like?
I guess calling it a 'relay' is a little confusing, but the actual 'buzzer', at l least on my 72 (I'm assuming the 71 is the same) is connected to the harness on on top of and in between the speedo, and the tach. It looks to be about the same size as a zippo (flip top) lighter.
The part your looking for is in the column it slides down the ingntion can be fixed so you have to take the steering column apart down to the ingtntion switch take the. ing switch out then slide the switch out.the piece that has a spring on it
This is the part that makes the buzzer go off. When the key is inserted, parts of the key ground the metal and make the buzzer go off (other things are also involved, but it cannot go off without this part)
