It should be a short water pump. This is a small block, right?
The water pump pulley should almost touch the water pump casting itself on the short pump. There's maybe 1/8" to 1/4" gap on mine with the 2 groove water pump pulley. Mine's a '70 LT-1.
Corvettes kept the short pump after the rest of the GM world went to the long pump.
Also, there are two different bolt patterns/shaft sizes. On my '70, I have
the short pump and small bolt pattern/small shaft.
I believe in '71, they all had the large bolt pattern/ large shaft.
I don't remember the two different shaft sizes. Maybe someone can help.
Per the "Corvette Restotation Guide 1968-1982" by Richard Prince, all solid lifter engines utilize a deep groove water pump pully while pulleys on hydralic lifter engines have a shallower groove. The correct water pump for the 1969 small block is 3782608 and for the big block is 385624.
