Default What is the best plug wire routing

Let's see who has the best spark plug wire routing. I have Hooker long tube headers and high rocker covers. I use the car mostly for show ( It's a 76 coupe) but I still want a performance ,quality wire set. I would like to run the wires over the top of the header pipes and along the side of the rocker covers on a billet holder around the back and up to the HEI. Does anybody make a set of wires that will fit without custom cutting the wires? Has anybody got pictures of the set up on there vettes?

Thanks in advance for the help

Billet looms, over the top, Long tube Hooker sidemounts. I have short valvecovers with 1 1/4 spacers. Helped with the wire fit. These are cut to fit wires and I still need to cut and fit them at the back after the dyno tune. I have a lot of extra wire at the back because they will need to be routed different with the dyno headers.

Not as pretty as Mako's setup.
I've used simple vertical cable mounts which attach to the rocker cover bolts. Low cost, but functional for keeping wires away from exhaust.

Still need to route some other hoses and tach drive cable to improve appearance.

You must be running a very tall hood to get that air cleaner to cover

I bought the same one for my 540 because it matched the valve covers but even with the L88 hood it would not clear

I had to buy the drop base air cleaner (L88 setup) and bond in the hood the cold air box to get it all to work.

I am using a edelbrock air gap intake with a quickfuel 830

Thanks for the photos, I like the routing of the billet wire looms ,but, I think I like the idea of the wire being seen and not hidden by the loom. Just my own opinion, I know the wire won't arc to the aluminum ,I would rather see the color contrast of the wire against the polished rocker cover.

not the greatest pics, but they are some cheap looms from O'Rileys loomes along the side of the vlave cover

and yes, yellow was the only color they had in the brand I wanted

Heat rises. Putting the plug wires over the headers exposes them to more heat than if you route them along the block like the factory did. I have a set of Moroso Blue Max spiral wound wires that fit perfectly under the headers. No cutting, no putting the ends on, they came out of the box the correct length for routing under the headers.

Cheers,
Pete

out os sight out of mind with a custom set and 90 degree plug ends. Gives it a clean look without wires in plain view allowing the more interesting engine features to stand out.....

I like the underneath route but learned the hard way that a burn or rub through way down there is almost impossible to detect. I have chased "bad" ignition box, coil, power supply, plugs etc. only to find a wire that had rubbed through. It would only arc under high load.

If you can see it your maintenance may fade....

I haven't even got as far as a hood yet. I was really planning/hoping the L88 hood would work. But I don't have one of them yet.
