I would put it in the sun for a while to soften it up before installation. 3M makes a good adhesive for the carpet which can be picked up at most auto supply stores.

The sun works good for the wrinkles and if you a stubborn area use a blow dryer; NOT a heat gun unless you are real careful or you will singe it. A heat gun does a great job on the edges after you trim cut to keep it from fraying, again don't be too agressive.
