Heads and hooker side pipes
lets say for the sake of arguement that I decide I would like to buy some sidepipes and do away with the undercar exhaust.
I was wondering, what heads work with the least amount of modifications to the car or headers? I really dont want to dimple the primaries, or worry about my gearbox/ragjoint or spark plugs.
So I figured I would ask what has successfully worked for others.
The hookers work very well with the GM aluminum fast burn heads, or at least they do mine. No denting or dimpling, clears everything. I'm using standard length Delco MR43LTS spark plugs. There is one, maybe two plugs that I have to use a spark plug socket and open end wrench to remove them. Not a big deal at all.
I have them with Edelbrock Performer aluminum heads. Installation was easy. I need to use shorty plugs and had to cut down a plug socket to install the plugs. Even with this set up I need to use a crow's foot for many of the plugs. Same for many of the header bolts. Other than that, it's a breeze.

I used the AFR 210 Elim angle plug heads with Urethane motor mounts. Had to trim the rocker covers and do some dinging, but not too bad. These have raised exhaust ports, I t hink around .300.
Dart Pro 1s will probably work as the exhaust port is in the stock location.
Well they sort of work as I have a set of Dart pro 1's on my 540
I had to dent in the # 3 pipe near the plug allot and dent in more at the steering box and whem its all said and done you will need to put rags on the collectors and jump on them to get body clearance
Not exactly a bolt on and go deal with the dart heads
And from what I have read on them the exhaust ports are raised, which would explain the body clearance issue
